Philippians 3:7-11 King James Version (KJV)
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Philippians 3:7-11 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
7 But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss;
8 yes, indeed, and I count all things to be loss, because of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom of the all things I suffered loss, and do count them to be refuse, that Christ I may gain, and be found in him,
9 not having my righteousness, which [is] of law, but that which [is] through faith of Christ -- the righteousness that is of God by the faith,
10 to know him, and the power of his rising again, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,
11 if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
7 When we come to Christ our values change the things we want change. We think in a mind set more like Him and less like the world this becomes more and more over time. What Christ and done and how He uses to use us it what truly matters, He blessings to us.
8 Without the Lord nothing has any meaning, but with the Lord the things and people we hold close to our hearts become more meaningful because we can see them more thru His eyes than our own. Paul never thought the people in his life were worthless it was just the things he was doing but it was all apart of God’s plan for Paul’s story that praises the Lord. Compared to Christ nothing else even comes close.
9 The world’s standards are to look at what they do but after we come to Christ it is what He does thru us and what we do is nothing more than sin. Apart from the Lord we are sinners in desperate need of Him with Him we are redeemed and blessed to have Him.
10 As we grow we can further draw closer to Him, become more like Him and less like the world, the world should see Christ thru us for many of them we will be the only Christ like figure that they will ever know.
11 Paul was looking forward to be in the presence of the Lord and it is good to think that but Paul did not let that focus prevent him from serving the Lord while he was on earth following the Spirit. We often times allow our glory which is in heaven prevent us from serving Him now and we should not.
