2 Corinthians 7:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
2 Corinthians 7:12 English Standard Version (ESV)
12 So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
Paul was writing for their relationship with the Lord and how they could be witnesses to others, for the effect of the church. Paul wasn’t going to handle the guy or the father or step mother but let God handle that but he was dealing with how the church was handling but ignoring the problem and letting the problem corrupt them. Problems often don’t just go away but we need to seek God always on how to handle problems.
