Philippians 2:25-27King James Version (KJV)
25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
Philippians 2:25-27
YLT 25 And I thought it necessary Epaphroditus—my brother, and fellow-workman, and fellow-soldier, and your apostle and servant to my need—to send unto you, 26 seeing he was longing after you all, and in heaviness, because ye heard that he ailed, 27 for he also ailed nigh to death, but God did deal kindly with him, and not with him only, but also with me, that sorrow upon sorrow I might not have.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
25 Epaphroditus was devoted to the Lord but not much is truly known about him. To be called a true brother by Paul would be a great honor but he would have looked to prove himself to the Lord not to Paul, we are not able to live up to other expectations all the time but we should only be focused on what God wants from us. He helped Paul while he was in prison.
26 He wanted to see them often times the best people to use are those who have the want to which he did, this does not take out God’s will because it comes first.
27 What his sickness was is not known but it was something serves which could have been anything if not able to get proper medical help. The Lord had kept him around for a reason. The Lord keeps us for a reason a purpose that we may not see, let all we go thru be for His benefit.
