Isaiah 1:16-17 King James Version (KJV)
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Isaiah 1:16-17 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
16 Wash yourselves, be clean, take away the evil of your devices from my eyes: cease to do perversely,
17 Learn to do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, defend the widow.

16 It is more important to be spiritually clean than just physical, they are be told here that they need to get right with God put away their sins and be pure in Him, we as Christians are made clean from the shedding Christ did on the cross by His death we are made pure or clean and by His resurrection we are able to live. Thru Christ we no longer live for sin as we did before Him but we live for His glory, they were serving their sins and God was ready to give them judgment if they chose to keep their sins rather then commit to Him. We have to give up evil and live for Him.
17 Thru the guidance of the Holy Spirit and thru having scripture on our hearts we learn how to be good but more only thru service to Him we do good. He is justice and thru Him we can find it. Then they are reminded of the good that they have been neglect, when we seek sin we often times neglect the good we are to do.
